Warriors Gaming Squad Announces 2020 Remote Gameplay Schedule

SAN FRANCISCO – Warriors Gaming Squad (WGS), the NBA 2K League affiliate team of the Golden State Warriors, will tip off the 2020 season with remote gameplay on Tuesday, May 5 at 6 p.m. (PDT) against Kings Guard Gaming. For at least the first six weeks of the 2020 NBA 2K League season, all 23 teams will participate in regular season gameplay from their local markets with games simulcast live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
Each match will be played in a best-of-three format, with the result of each three-game series representing a single regular season win or loss. Over the course of the six weeks of remote gameplay, each team is scheduled to play at least eight matches that will count toward its regular season record. The remainder of the 2020 season schedule and structure, including the dates of tournaments, rivalry matches and round-robin events, will be shared as information becomes available.

Mike Newton will serve as head coach of Warriors Gaming Squad after spending a season as basketball operations associate & player development for the Santa Cruz Warriors, the G League affiliate of the club. Prior to his time in Santa Cruz, Newton worked in basketball operations for the Wisconsin Herd and the NBA Summer League. Newton, 26, graduated with a degree in business management and a minor in marketing from Urbana University, where he played for the men’s basketball team.
The 2020 Warriors Gaming Squad roster includes point guard Charlie “CB13” Bostwick, forward Jin “Jin” Choe, point guard Matt “Matty” Grant, center Malik “Slaughter” Leisinger, guard Alex “Bsmoove” Reese and forward Samuel “Gradient” Salyers.
Founded in 2017, Warriors Gaming Squad is the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors, one of 23 teams who compete in the league.
