WGS Weekly Preview: Squad Looks to Continue Hot Start Against 76ers GC, Cavs Legion GC

One week in the books, two W’s in the win column for Warriors Gaming Squad. With two more matchups on deck this week, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming slate for Warriors Gaming Squad.

Up Against the Runners-Up

Warriors Gaming Squad’s first matchup of the week is against 2019 runners-up 76ers GC (0-2). The winningest team in NBA 2K League history, 76ers GC won THE TIPOFF TOURNAMENT in consecutive seasons before falling to T-Wolves Gaming in the 2019 Finals. Warriors Gaming Squad topped them to earn THE TURN Championship in 2019, however, and 76ers GC has stumbled out of the gates, losing all four of its week-one games against Raptors Uprising GC and Hornets Venom GT. Led by 2019 Coach of the Year Jeff Terrell, however, 76ers GC is still a dangerous team thanks to longtime pick-and-roll pairing Radiant and Steez.

The matchup will be live at 6 p.m. PST on ESPN.com and the ESPN App, as well as the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

Defend the Bay

The first WGS home game of the season will take place on Friday, May 15, when Cavs Legion GC (1-2) figuratively comes to town. Like WGS, Cavs Legion starts an all-veteran lineup, keyed by 2019 Defensive Player of the Year Godddof2K, and boasts a G League coach (Canton’s Austin Peterson) on the headset. After winning their opening game of the season against Pacers Gaming, Cavs Legion struggled against Hornets Venom GT in week one and Bucks Gaming in yesterday’s week two matchup, and thus enter the matchup on a two-game losing streak.

The Cavs Legion GC matchup is in the league’s early slot on Friday, May 15, tipping off at 4 p.m. PST.

WGS dethroned preseason cup winners Kings Guard Gaming on opening night before defeating expansion team Gen.G Tigers in the Shanghai franchise’s first-ever NBA 2K League matchup. Warriors Gaming Squad scored 75 points per game in its two matchups last week (remember: WGS wins, you score), highlighted by point guard CB13 smashed his career-high in scoring by dropping 49 points against Gen.G Tigers in the second game of the series.
